Facing and overcoming challenge: such is the theme of this year’s Conference at the TFWA World Exhibition, at which delegates will hear from a fascinating and diverse mix of contributors.

The keynote speakers at this year’s conference have, in their professional careers, met challenge head on. All can share business stories and case studies that resonate well beyond their respective fields.

The conference will be moderated by Stephen Sackur, journalist and presenter of HARDTalk, one of the most watched current affairs programmes on BBC World.

Erik Juul-MortensenTFWA President
The opening address from the TFWA President will, as always, include the latest data on current industry performance and also explore how new market dynamics are creating new challenges for the duty free and travel retail industry.

Lord (Sebastian) Coe, Olympic athlete, chairman of the British Olympic Association and former chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games
As a record-breaking Olympic athlete, politician and, most recently, organizer of one of the most successful Olympic Games of all time, Sebastian Coe has made a career from overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles to success. In Cannes he will look back at the challenges he faced during the preparations for London 2012, and at the lessons for businesses large and small.

Willie Walsh, Chief Executive Officer, International Airlines Group
One of the most influential figures in the aviation industry, Willie Walsh oversaw the merger of British Airways and Iberia and is responsible for plotting the airlines’ future course. And under his stewardship Aer Lingus went from near-bankruptcy to post a nine-figure profit within three years.   He will share his vision for the travel industry as it continues to face economic, regulatory and environmental challenges.

John Gerzema, Author, Social Strategist and Consultant
Through books such as The Post-Crisis Consumer and The Athena Doctrine: How Women (And The Men Who Think Like Them) Will Rule the Future, John Gerzema has analysed the behaviour of consumers across the world to help companies and brands adapt to new trends. He will explore perceptions of luxury today, and discuss how the rise of feminine values explained in The Athena Doctrine is changing consumer behaviour.
