Michael Barrett started his career in 1995 as a journalist at European news channel Euronews in Lyon before joining the network's marketing department. Since then he has worked in both media and new media, as well as for an international NGO, specializing in fundraising, marketing and communications.
In 2006 Michael joined TFWA as Conference & Research Manager, where he was responsible for organizing the TFWA World Exhibition and TFWA Asia Pacific conferences in Cannes and Singapore as well as the annual MEADFA conference and later the China’s Century Conference. Following his relocation to India in July 2010, he was appointed Executive Officer for the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA).
Michael is also a Director of The Soulcial Trust, an Indian NGO which raises awareness for and empowers disabled people in India through sports and education programmes.
President, The Moodie Davitt Report
Dermot Davitt is one of the most experienced editors and commentators working in the travel retail media. He joined The Moodie Report in April 2006 as Deputy Publisher, becoming President (and Co-owner) in August 2015. A rebranding saw The Moodie Report become The Moodie Davitt Report in April 2016.
He manages the company's flourishing Print Division and also plays a key editorial role on the industry’s leading daily business intelligence website, www.MoodieDavittReport.com, and the leading weekly, The Moodie Davitt e-Zine.
Previously he spent ten years with trade magazine Duty-Free News International, six of those years as Editor-in-Chief, having joined in 1996. Based in Galway, Ireland, Dermot is also a highly experienced conference moderator. He has chaired and moderated many of the travel retail industry’s leading events over the years, including The Trinity Forum, the Airport Food & Beverage Conference & Awards, the annual MEADFA Conference, the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference, the Nordic Travel Retail Seminar and many others.
Conference, Research and Corporate Affairs Director, TFWA
John Rimmer has worked in the duty free and travel retail industry since 2000, when he joined trade journal Duty-Free News International as a reporter. Within three years he had been appointed editor of sister publication Travel Retailer International, before becoming editor of DFNI a year later. In 2006 he relocated to Paris, where he joined retailer Aelia as Deputy Director of Business Development, helping the company to develop its presence at airports beyond France.
Four years later he returned to the UK to become Executive Director – Business Development at leading trade publisher The Moodie Report. In October 2012 John returned to Paris to join Tax Free World Association as Conference, Research and External Affairs Director, tasked with strengthening the Association’s services to its members across the world.
John has taken part in the moderation of several industry conferences, including the Global Travel Retail Summit, The Trinity Forum, TFWA Asia Pacific Conference and TFWA China’s Century Conference.
Managing Editor, Travel Retail Business
Charlotte Turner joined The Travel Retail Business in July 2011 as Senior Writer at TRB and Online Editor of TRBusiness.com. Her background includes two internships with Sheengate Publishing, writing all of its property and lifestyle magazines.
During her first year of study at Brunel University she also worked for Bauer Media, funding her through her first degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. She also spent two years as a staff writer for FHM.com, before being appointed Deputy Editor of FHMonline.com. Prior to this she was the Assistant Editor at Frontier Magazine.
Charlotte was appointed Managing Editor of TRB in March 2015 and reports to Editorial Director and co-owner Doug Newhouse.
