Michael Feely is an expert on consumers around the globe, having done everything that a researcher might do in travel retail, in more than 30 countries. He is Vice President at Horizon Consumer Science, a research company that has been consulting to brand companies and retailers in travel retail for over 20 years.
Michael’s experience in studying the behaviour of Chinese travelling consumers stretches back 15 years, covering all stages in the passenger journey and various research methods: focus groups, one-on-one depth interviews, accompanied shopping, observation and quantitative interviews (phone, internet and face-to-face). His work has helped retailers, brands and airports create new, more effective strategies for generating business from Chinese travellers, troubleshooting and improving performance, developing new products and services tailored to the sector, and communicating more effectively with Chinese travellers.
In recent years Michael has conducted research for DFS, Lagardère Travel Retail, Starboard Cruise Services, Diageo, P&G and Godiva, plus airports including Singapore changi, Los Angeles and Melbourne.
Michael resides in Australia and has a BSc in Psychology from La Trobe University and an MBA from Deakin University.
